Country singer Pat Green is grieving after his stepbrother and family were caught in the catastrophic floods that swept through central Texas on Friday.
“Over the weekend, during the devastating flooding that hit Central Texas, my family — like so many others — suffered a heartbreaking and deeply personal loss,” he wrote. “We are grieving alongside countless Texans whose lives have been upended by this tragedy.”
“Right now, we kindly ask for privacy and space as we mourn, support each other, and begin to process what comes next for our family,” the post continued. “Thank you for your love, prayers, and compassion.”
According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the “Texas On My Mind” singer’s stepbrother, John Burgess; sister-in-law, Julia Anderson Burgess; and their sons, James and Jack Burgess, were camping near the Guadalupe River in a Kerr County RV camp when waters surged over 25 feet in less than an hour.
Both parents have been declared dead, while the boys are still listed as missing.
The Burgesses were camping in the area before planning on picking up their 8-year-old daughter from summer camp, which was not impacted by the flood.
On Tuesday, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott revealed that the death toll from the floods had surpassed 100, with at least 160 others missing.
