“Trump’s new tariffs on Canada, Mexico and China went into effect, and they’re gonna raise the price of everything from cars to electronics to clothes,” Fallon said, leaning on reports about the likely effects on retail goods.
“It’s all part of Trump’s plan to make everything more expensive so eggs seem cheaper by comparison,” he quipped.
The comedian’s egg crack has merit. A dozen eggs cost more than $8 on average, a 40.4% hike since the beginning of the year, according to Trading Economics.
